"We're Part of God's Plan"
(Heart of Christmas Series)
The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus.”
{Luke 1:30-31}
“Let’s go in on it together.” You can hear this phrase in stores around Christmas. It is said by one person inviting another to be a part of giving a gift to someone they both love.
In a sense, God is saying, “Let’s go in on it together” when the angel is speaking to Mary. But unlike an exchange between two people, Mary could never help purchase this Gift. But she does offer what God wants most--herself. She humbly says, “I am the Lord’s servant. May it be to me as You have said.”
It’s amazing that the God of the universe would choose a lowly human to be a part of His Gift to the world. God entrusted His most precious Gift to a girl who had enough faith to simply say, “Yes.”
Like Mary, we can offer ourselves to God so that He can use us to bring gifts like His love, compassion, and grace into the world.
When has God used you to give a gift to someone else? Perhaps it was a kind word, an act of service, or an actual present. What was that like?
