"The Business of Binding Our Wounds"

"He heals the brokenhearted, binding up their wounds."
Psalm 147:3

Are you brokenhearted? Have you been injured and feel there is no cure for your crushed spirit? God is ready to heal you.

God's promise to heal the brokenhearted is for all God's people everywhere. God does not heal from afar; He involves Himself in the healing and the helping process. He binds up the wounds of all who fall and "lifts up those bent beneath their loads" (Psalm 145:14). We can be brokenhearted for all sorts of reasons. Life can beat us up. We can be wounded dreadfully by rejection or abuse. We may be crushed by a cruel remark or difficult circumstances.

Exekiel 34 shows us God as a caring shepherd tending to His sheep. "I will search for my lost ones who strayed away, and I will bring them safely home again. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak" (Ezekiel 34:16). God speaks of His sheep being hurt by evil shepherds. Many people today have been injured by "bad shepherds," leaders who have deeply wounded them. Church splits and controversies can break your heart, but the Good Shepherd is near and will bind up your wounds.

If you are brokenhearted, call out to God. Remember that He is not a God who heals from a distance. "The Lord is close to all who call on Him, yes, to all who call on Him sincerely" (Psalm 145:18). Whatever the reason for our brokenness, God wants to mend us. He is in the business of binding up our wounds.
